WWDC 2022: MacOS Sierra Brings Siri to Desktop

At the recently concluded WWDC 2022, Apple unveiled the side by side version of its Mac operating system—codenamed Sierra. But every bit expected of contempo rumours, Cupertino is ditching the familiar Mac OS 10 moniker in favor of MacOS.

Among the new features coming to MacOS Sierra is Siri. Much similar Cortana has been integrated into Windows 10, Mac users tin speak to their computers and take Siri search the Spider web or observe other items on the desktop.

Sierra too boosts Continuity on the Mac. Auto Unlock, for example, allows people to unlock their Mac with Apple tree Watch—no countersign typing required. Universal Clipboard, meanwhile, will let you lot copy something (images, videos, text) on 1 Apple tree device (iPhone) and paste it on another (MacBook).

Apple is also bringing Apple Pay to the browser. Supporting stores will allow you use Apple's mobile payment service on your Mac. Likewise in the latest rollout phase, this digital mode of payment is also coming to Switzerland, France, and Hong Kong in the next few months.

On iCloud, Apple will let you sync information beyond desktops. Interestingly, the operating system also helps y'all "go rid of files you'll never use again" when syncing. With optimised storage, Apple will drop things you don't need—similar the movies you lot've already watched or mail with a lot of attachments. In one test, doing then allowed a Mac to go from 20GB of gratuitous storage to 150GB, Apple said.

On the desktop, Apple teased 'tabs everywhere', a feature that will let the use of tabs within all windows. Picture-in-picture will also let you to minimise a video on the desktop so you can piece of work on two things at once.

Sierra will be available as a Public Beta July 2022 and is gear up to launch in the fall.
